Where can I find information about Age of the Beast?
You can find several pages on this site with general and system information, screenshots, and demo videos. Also, the answers to any questions you may have left, can probably be found in our forum.
Where can I get a playable demo?
Nowhere. There is no such demo, and the chances there ever will be, are slim to none.
Will Age of the Beast have (insert details about gameplay here)?
Whatever you wanted to ask, the answer is probably yes, unless your idea was impractical, unfeasible, redundant or stupid.
When will Age of the Beast finally be finished?
I know, I know. We're behind schedule. I originally predicted early 2005, but it's 2008 already and still no Age of the Beast. What can I say, we're all working men, making a game of (supposedly) professional quality in our scarce free time. And it's taking a little longer than expected... So the only realistic date I can give you is "when it's done".
How much progress has been made so far, exactly?
A lot.
Which operating system is Age of the Beast being developed under?
Age of the Beast is being developed under DOS. This OS is easy to develop under, and the resulting code will be very portable.
Which compiler are you using to develop Age of the Beast?
We are using the Open Watcom C compiler (and just a tiny bit of Assembly language). The Open Watcom compilers and tools are free, and come with a variety of DOS extenders (DOS/4GW, Pmode/W, Dos32A).
Can I help out? I know a little about programming!
We don't need any help in that department, though if you know how to port a game to another system, you might want to try that when the source code is released.
Can I help out? I can do concept art!
We have more than enough concepts and ideas to work with. The only kind of artist we can use is a sprite artist/animator.
Can I help out? I have so many ideas!
See directly above.
Can I help out? I am a sprite artist/animator!
If you think your skills meet our standards, contact us now via the forum!
Can I help out? I am a composer!
We already have a composer, thank you.
Can I help out? I make rap music!
Go away.
Will Age of the Beast have netplay/online features?
No. You'll just have to find yourself some friends in the real world to play with.
Will I be able to play Age of the Beast on a wide-screen television set?
Yes. Age of the Beast will support 16:9 television standards as well as 4:3.
I want to make a mod for AotB. Will I still have to use palettes, like in BoR?
Yes, you will have to use palettes, but no, it won't be the same as in BoR. In AotB, every character can have its own palette.
Modding BoR is hard! Will it be easier to mod AotB?
Far from it. And modding isn't hard, it's fun!
Will AotB play AVI/MOV/MPEG/etc?
No. First of all, the AVI and MOV formats simply aren't very portable. Secondly, AVI isn't a compression standard, which means that every file can be compressed in a completely different way. Apple's MOV standard is contstantly changing, and their software sucks. So that's out of the question, too. MPEG is probably the only format worth considering, but again, there are issues. Like bulky third-party code with no guarantees of speed, portability, stability, etc.
Will AotB play video sequences with synchronised audio?
This part is still in development, but the answer is almost certainly yes.
This is a BoR mod, right?
NOOOOO! You dumbass, haven't you figured it out yet? Shame on you! Shame!
