| | I'm considering the possibility of submitting a patch to the libmagic file type database, which is used by the "file" program to identify file types based on magic bytes. The "file" program is included in every free Unix-like OS: FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, OpenSolaris, and Linux.
What would be the best description string for the PAK and BOR file formats used by BOR? Here are the ones that I am considering.
For PAK files:
Beats of Rage packfile, version 1.0
Beats of Rage pack file, version 1.0
Beats of Rage game data, version 1.0
OpenBOR packfile, version 1.0
OpenBOR pack file, version 1.0
OpenBOR game data, version 1.0
For BOR files: (1.0/1.1 selected depending on file version)
Beats of Rage music, version 1.0/1.1
OpenBOR music, version 1.0/1.1 |

| | Since the file formats were originally designed for Beats of Rage rather than OpenBOR, my vote goes to "Beats of Rage game data, version 1.0".
And since a .BOR file doesn't necessarily have to contain music, perhaps something like "Beats of Rage audio track, version 1.0/1.1"? |
