Windows 7 .pak compiler (noob question)

So I've been able to decompile .pak files, and edited the heck out of them. How do I recompile them? The packer.exe used to work on my 98, but since I've upgraded to 7, I've been unable to compile .pak.

Is there any compatible compilers? Detailed instructions would be nice!

Thank you guys in advance.

Newer software to create .pak, .bor, etc can be found on lavalit.com. Create an account there, click "downloads" and then browse the "editors" pages under the the "tools" section.

Specifically, that software is:
  • borpak, also known as the improved BoR Packfile Editor.  It can be found in the Editors section of LavaLit's downloads.  It replaces packer, and works on all modern versions of Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
  • Wav2Bor 1.1, which can be found in the Audio section of LavaLit's downloads.
