It's completely new to me. Most of the differences between this special edition and the original Sonic 2 don't seem like improvements at all, but I find the videos interesting and entertaining.
"If you're used to the newer Sonic games, you'll notice a few differences here - like the fact that this doesn't suck."
Delightful! |

Sonic2 HD is looking better than I expected...

Maybe a bit too clean but I think they managed to give Sonic heaps of character. Same for the badniks and background props btw. (check visual change log at the bottom of the page... impressive improvements made over a couple of iterations). |

| | Pretty cool, and quite heartening to see that the final designs they chosen are actually the best looking. |

| | I'm glad to see they made some very wise choices since the first time I noticed this project. I must say that I am deeply impressed by the way it looks now. |

| | Great Scott! This is exactly what you want from a HD Sonic. Just typical that Sega had nothing to do with it. |

I hear you Roel, it was all a bit bland when they first started out... but now it looks freakin' fantastic!
And yes Jeroen, I guess we were lucky enough to experience SEGA's quality years. Looks like that may have been a fluke, rather than SEGA being a quality developer.
Ow, and how cool is that end-of-level boss music!! |
