I mean why not?

Sure, it's almost Feb but we've had little next to no activity here.

Whose excited for Sonic 4e2: Boasting a new engine this time (are they going to port the previous 4 levels on to the new engine? Personally I think they've just modded the previous engine, did they really need to code another engine?)

Oh and Resident Evil 6...?

Anyone care about that franchise cause they got like 3 games and 2 movies coming out this year talk about over kill.

Happy New Year!

You'd have to have a pretty thick skull to be excited about anything Sonic 4 related, but do admit to being curious. Whether or not they really needed to code a completely new engine is hard to say; none of us knows the internals of the previous engine so we can't tell how deep its failures ran. But if you ask me the "comlpetely new engine" is probably just an overstatement issued in an attempt to hush the inevitable (and completely justified) criticism over the notoriously broken physics of the last episode. But I have to see it before I believe it. Besides, if the level designer doesn't try harder this time it won't matter much even if the new engine is uexpectedly superb. As I said before, letting the player run fast for most of the level and then placing a series of deadly holes at the end is not good level design.

As for Resident Evil 6, obviously someone cares. Not me, though.

The console version of Sonic Generations had great level design atleast for the "Classic" Zones.

That is the energy they need to bring on to this game.

Did it? I don't know much about it, but the classic level present in the demo was completely worthless. Sonic was being flung from one spring to another with little to no user interaction. Graphics looked good though.

Well i've just seen Youtube clips (will buy the platinum edition) but the classic treatment for the modern stages has been really exciting.

I've only checked about 4 stages (don't want to ruin the entire experience).

The stage that blew me away was Crisis City shockingly, the classic treatment was more true to the actual stage than the modern treatment which actually destroyed a level from Sonic 06 (bet you never heard anybody could say that).

See for yourself:
EDIT: The [video] tag wasn't working for me.

The Original featuring 4 acts of Awesomeness:
Act 1: Skate Board
Act 2: Rail/Platforming
Act 3: Platforming
Act 4: Mach Speed

P.S. Even though he got an S, he was still a sucky player. He played really safe and missed all the cool/risky shortcuts.

Then we have the classical and re-imagining of Generations.

Both versions could've been better but atleast the classic one tries to be faithful.

Another thing that bothers me is the weird Marioish stomping thing they've got Sonic doing (since Unleashed) instead of the bounce he's been doing Since Sonic 3 (the bounce was omitted in Sonic Adventure & Heroes as well). Lastly I hate those red coins, whatever happened to the emblems we used to collect.

Other than minor nit picks Generations does seem to hit the right notes, where as Colors was over rated.
