Damn you, eBay! A curse on your children! |
| | For those of you who know about the eBay/BoR situation: eBay members keep offering illegal copies of Beats of Rage, others keep complaining and eBay keeps looking the other way.
But apparently eBay thought it necessary to piss us off even more, as what did I see on Google today? An eBay ad offering BoR for sale! This is just too much!

| | Is there anything you can do about it since your licensing is pretty straight forward..... |

| | As a U.S. citizen, my first suggestion would be to sue them, as that's what our country is built on.
Seriously, though, I don't think there's all that much you can do if eBay won't cooperate. Despite my memories to the contrary, I can't find any sort of license for BoR listed anywhere in the download. If you do have some kind of license, that will probably give you the leverage to at least threaten legal action, even if you don't intend to bring it.
Not having ever gotten one myself, I'm not sure what options you have for getting a license/copyright/etc. You may want to check the open-source licenses like GNU, CC, etc. for information.
The fact that BoR uses copyrighted graphics may weigh against it. If that's the case, you may not be able to do anything (legally, anyway). That won't be a problem for AotB, so if you get the chance you may want to look into some kind of intellectual protection for AotB before it's release. |

| | I wrote an e-mail to Google about it. It probably won't make any difference, but one can always try. |

| | Well people are able to sell roms (sega, nintendo, mame) on ebay that are copywritten then there isn't much hope for bor on ebay. |

Actually, I feel quite proud |

| | it really sucks for you guys though. you couldnt sell it but other people can just go around making a buck of it, and that aint right. here you guys made the game (well the engine at least) and every one but senile team is making profit. damn those people.
but the good news is when i did a search on ebay for beats of rage, only one was up for sale. (3.90 in american cuurency) but i reported it as fraud. |

| | Actually, they can't sell it either for the same reason Senile Team can't: it contains copyrighted material, and nobody's been given permission to use that material. The auctions are indeed illegal. |

| | To be fair, you can type in more or less ANYTHING on Google and find eBay ads for it. Really, it's true! Try random things that could never ever be sold! |
| | Quote |
| | I know, these ads are just generated. But that doesn't mean I should find them acceptable. |
| | Quote |
| | You know how sometimes when you get bored, you just start typing in random people's names in Google? Okay, so maybe only I do that... But yeah, I put in a few of my friends' names, and most were supposedly available on eBay.
Google and eBay. A most unholy alliance, yo. |

| | Hahaha! You'd better start bidding before someone else takes off with all your friends! |

HAHAHAHA! I wonder who is going to buy your friends. |

| | Cheap bastards they are too... |

| | So Redtop got them, huh? Well, at least I know they're in good (or at least cleanly) hands! |
| | Quote |
| | Well, at least the prices aren't as outrageous as they used to be... |
| | Quote |
| | Actually, now that you mention it, I've been wondering for a while if those ads don't just take the input from your search and SAY you can find it on eBay, regardless of whether or not there is a single auction for anything like it.
