Ok, All I want to do is be able to play the pak files. I've tried about every openbor download I could find, and every time i run it, it runs the command prompt, goes fullscreen and I can see a picture for about half a second, then it goes completely black. I have the paks in the right place, so what am I doing wrong??

I am trying to run the DOS openbor.

Sorry for having to ask, but I've looked everywhere, and I can only find tutorials on making your own mod, which I don't want to do. I just want to run the pak files.

Which version of OpenBoR you are using? and what mods are you trying to play? It's possible that some mods aren't compatible with OpenBoR you're using.

Well, like I said, I've tried every version I could find. I tried using the one from lavalit.com, tried using the ones from borgeneration.

I've tried to run various mods, I made sure they were the PC version. Rage of the streets, killbill, lots of others...

sorry for the double post did not see an edit button.

Ok I feel a slightly retarded. I did not know you needed dosbox to run openbor. Would have been nice if it was mentioned somewhere...

There are Windows versions of OpenBoR. Try v2.0919 from Lavalit.com. Download via the forums:

http://www.lavalit.com/forum/index.php?topic=345.msg3872#msg3872

You need to register before you can see the attachment to the linked post. (like you need to register here to see the edit button)

The PAK files go in \PAKS\.

I'm wondering what else I need. All it comes with is the .exe, so where can I get sdl.dll and all of that?

Of course not. You're not a registered user.
