The country is beautiful. Not every spot, of course. But you can say it's nice and clean. The people........ well, I don't want to become political, I only say: live a few years here, especially in east Germany, then we talk again. |

Yes and no. Vollmann is a German name. But usually, German surnames which are ending with 'man' or 'mann' used to have a jewish origin. Of course that ending does not make you automatically a jew, it's only indication that there was someone jewish in the family line. |

Well, Ossies are different from Wessies. But still, the Ossies I know are friendly. My friend's girlfriend comes from East-Berlin. Different, but nice. |

Well, Berlin is our capital, a world city, usually people there are more open minded. Right now I'm on a visit in Sachsen, East Germany, that's 700 km from my home location in West Germany. One of my best friends is from East Germany too. Right now there is music festival in called Back to the Future with 25 Punk Rock, RocknRoll and Ska bands from all over Europe here. It's awesome. 98% of the festival people are punks, they are really cool and the majority of them is east German. But we also encountered a lot of Nazi-Skins on our way there. And believe me, they are not really cool. This is a big problem of the East, the villages and small towns in East Germany are bursting full of this human scum. Another thing is, the people of West Germany have to pay a special tax for the reconstruction and progress of East Germany since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the re-unification of Germany. We are doing this since 1990. The government at that time said that this special tax would only last for 10 years until the east of Germany has reached western standards. But now it's mid 2006 and we are still paying for East Germany, and they have made no real progress so far and the unemployment rate is the highest in Germany. And the thing which is most annoying for the people in West Germany is, that the people in east Germany are complaining that they haven't reached the living standard of West Germany yet and give the West the fault for it, but do as good as nothing for it's progress. I know this was very political for a videogame forum, but I wanted to give you a little political background what I meant with my statement about East Germany. |

| | I find it quite interesting actually. Despite only living as far away as England and having visited Germany with my parents a few times when I was younger, I had no idea that there were differences between the two sides. I guess in England we live a sheltered life! |
