Holy ham batman! A new Thunder Force has been announced!
And it's already coming out in October 2008!! And it's for PS2, a console which I actually have!

Exclamation marks!!

Apparently Sega is developing it, as the original company - Technosoft - is gone.
The graphics look pretty okay (not super great), but if the gameplay is as it should be, it will be awsome!

Sega may have left many of their own series collecting dust, but they sure do know which orphaned intellectual property to adopt. The screenshots remind me of Thunder Force V, which is definitely a good thing. Now let's hope a video will appear soon so we can get an impression of the gameplay.

I noticed some things about this movie. Some good, some not so good.

Bad things:
* I see a lot of lazy graphics: colourful, blurred shapes which are supposed to look "cool" but never do.
* Also, it seems that the camera sometimes tilts/rotates instead of sticking to a fixed, 2D angle. That might please some producers/managers who want to see more 3D, but it's not good for playability.

Good thing:
* It looks like fun, and a lot better than the earlier movies which were alledgedly recorded before SEGA took over.

It's out now.

In the promo-videos you can see many familiar bosses and stages from past ThunderForce releases. I will buy it definitely, but I share Roel's concerns that the included 3D will affect the 2D Gameplay in a negative way. But nevertheless, after all the years a new Thunderforce release is simply awesome.
