"in detail what the game is like"... okay, I'll write down some of my first impressions.
+ First of all, it is a good game. I am very satisfied with the experience, it has been a long time since I have last played a new game like this.
+ It's very fast. Some courses go straight on for some time, your car really gains a lot of speed there.
+ Control is sharp. It never felt unfair, I was always in control of steering and drifting.
+ Graphics are great! It felt like playing my Amiga500 almost 20 years ago (with games like All Terrain Racing, Supercars or Skidmarks), which is a good thing. I really like the retro-look. The night levels have nice lighting effects.
+ good music! While the soundfx are nothing special, the music suits the action and gets you in the right mood. Do you know "Driift Mania" from the Wiiware-Service? Somewhat similar game, but that one has terrible music.
+ there seem to be plenty of unlockables. I just finished easy mode, now there seems to be an 11th track? Anyway, there are many ???s all over the menu, there still is much stuff to do!
+ good difficulty for single player. The easiest setting took me several attempts to beat and remained difficult all the time, I am looking forward to the harder settings.
...but...
- too difficult for multiplayer. I know my friends, and I know no one will play RRRR with me in multiplayer. The game is too fast & even the first multiplayer tracks are cluttered with stuff & shortcuts (a truck blocking the way so the course changes into the desert) and are not very accessible for casual players (you have to learn the tracks to compete).
- some edges in course design trap your car in annoying ways. Until you remember these spots (happens on 2 or 3 tracks), you frequently end up in a corner and have to slowly backtrack (in one case you can't even see your car while doing that!). It is okay though, after some practice it rarely happens anymore.
- introduction text flickers in multiplayer, probably due to resolution change (my screenmode is pal60).
- no time trial mode! Do I always have to deal with enemy cars when I want to submit a new highscore?
- no individual selection of tracks? Maybe I have overlooked something, will check on that later.
- Multiplayer seems to be without AI cars.
That's about it for now.
As I said, a good game if you like this 2D-retro style!
