RRRR in VGA

18 Nov 2009 07:23
One cuestion:

    -I have one dreamcast conected to CRT vga monitor with vga box. All games work perfectly and the screen is centered on the monitor.

    -Rush rush rally donīt center the image on monitor; does not occupy the complete screen but it turns out to be displaced towards the left side.

    -I test with other vga box and conected to one TV with VGA input; and the results were the same.

    -it is very rare because other games donīt present this problem.

    -is a bug of the game?

Thanks a lot;

Best regards;

Apparently so, although it doesn't manifest itself with all TV's and monitors. The ones used to test the game before it was taken into production showed no hint of this problem.

It is a shame.
For what I could verify it happens to many people who plays in way VGA.
Thanks.

Don't most monitors have settings to place/resize the picture on screen manually? Shouldn't that help? (at least the old CRTs, don't know about all that fancy new stuff)

Yes I have this problem too. So I play it in 4:3 ratio.

Yeah, I get this too. My TV lets me shift the image into the center though so it's not a huge deal.

Roel,

Any possible way to fix this error before shipment of  RRRR DX?

I'm sure glad that was the case for testing, I am prayin RRRR DX will not have any issues with my CRT set up.  Because 99.9 % of my Dreamcast gaming is played through a VGA set up.  LOVE THE VGA

Sorry, but the game discs have already been pressed. Also, I don't have a VGA box myself and the devices redspotgames used to test the VGA signal didn't have the problem. It would to be quite difficult to solve a problem I can't reproduce.

No problem Roel, I kind of figured redspot would have already have the print run completed for the DX versions since they are the same exact disc.

Sure hope its not much of an issue.

The interesting thing is: Where is the VGA issue coming from?

Is it the type of Dreamcast, /model/region?
Is it the type of TV/Monitor?
Is it the type of CRT Monitor?
Is it any development of RRRR?

I guess the source of the problem lies within the game itself. The signal settings are probably a little off. But VGA signals are rarely the same so most monitors will have a way to center it, or even do so automatically. I don't know about TVs, though.

Ive just tested the VGA too. It also doesnt work correctly. It doesnt matter so much for me as I just use RGB instead

I play my Dreamcast in this monitor via VGA...http://www.youtube.com/user/dreamcasting2008#p/u/7/7flEyoM_hDM

Rush rush rally looks nice and smooth there..The only problem that i faced is that was a black  space at the left..

It wasnt too much problem...I just had to move the image from the buttons of my monitor...

OMG I totally forgot to do this....also found a setting that adjusts FINE and COARSE and I have now have better image quality for my DC! Knew that VGA was worth the money!

i think this is a minor problem, especially if you compare that to the rest of the great and constant quality of the game!

it makes me the same problem too, but i simple ask my vga screen an "auto adjustment" and, problem's gone.
but in my opinion, the source is maybe not the screen, but the VGA boxes in themselves...

and if you don't care in VGA, you just have to put your RRRR in a "jamma-ized" dreamcast in a coin op cab
