Intrepid Izzy is an adventure with platformer and beat 'em up elements. In this game, you eplore large, colourful levels to find various treasures, upgrades and collectibles. Most notable amongst these are the costumes that don't just change how Izzy looks, but also which special powers she can use. For example, the vampire costume allows Izzy to temporarily change into a bat and pass through small openings.
The game features a nifty map system which automatically indicates important objects such as treasure chests, doors and objectives. Unlike typical metroid style games, the map actually shows the level in detail, and not just a grid.
Throughout the game, Izzy collects coins, which can be spent in town on inventory items, or on the arcade mini games. These have actually sparked their own spin-off, called
Izzy's Arcade, which is currently in development.
